Job Summary:


Recruits, trains, develops, retains, and grows a unit of sales producers for an individual insurance and financial services agency. Manages the agency business plan consistent with objectives


 


Functional Responsibilities:


 



  • Recruits sales producers by developing centers of influence as a means to identify active sources; establishes diverse and qualified candidate pools; identifies and sources ideal candidates using selection tools.


• Screens candidates and fairly administers selection tests and interview guidelines; conducts and supervises pre-contract work; properly uses pre-appointment training and post-appointment production guidelines to screen out unqualified candidates.


• Meets sales producer annual hiring quota.


• Monitors producer retention and continually manages retention processes; meets agency growth requirements and diversity goals; maintains established retention quota.


• Provides producer and training development by conducting and reinforcing initial agent training; ensures all required training and licensing is completed; creates support systems; provides feedback regarding customer applications and suitability of sales; provides direction on identifying markets, prospecting, products, and selling systems.


• Identifies ongoing producer training needs; creates, implements, and follows up on action plans.


• Participates in company-sponsored training and development programs; completes any required continuing education as needed to maintain licenses or acquire industry designations; participates in programs to develop management and leadership skills; maintains accurate and current knowledge of products, sales skills, policies, systems, and tools, as well as industry trends and best practices.


• Establishes performance goals with all producers and ensures that performance is meeting production goals.


• Documents development plans with development needs, production requirements, and appointments and sales expectations, ensuring that each plan reflects agency’s overall goals.


• Identifies and develops high potential individuals.


• Develops and maintains succession plans.


• Conducts regular performance discussions to assess progress on expected goals; identifies and addresses performance problems; develops and implements corrective/supportive actions.


• Conducts or delegates joint fieldwork and individual sales planning conference meetings at required frequency.


• Promotes and maintains an ethical and professional work environment by regularly emphasizing, monitoring, and enforcing changes in company policy; reports all producer infractions, complaints, and potential customer complaints to senior management; identifies, addresses, and resolves problems with any associate or producer not modeling appropriate behaviors; demonstrates commitment to professional work environment; complies with all employment laws, company regulations and policies; enforces compliance rules and guidelines and partners with senior management, compliance, and legal staff as appropriate.


• Supervises registered representatives; conducts and documents quarterly FINRA meetings; maintains regular communications and carries out all major functions does with appropriate licenses; ensures producer files are kept in accordance with policies; follows company policies and procedures regarding signature guarantees; reviews sales manuals and marketing/advertising materials to ensure material is current; maintains copies of all documentation.


• Performs other related duties as assigned or required.


 


Supervisory Responsibilities:


 


Full people management responsibilities, including hiring, firing, promotions, performance and compensation management, and training and development.


 


Typical Experience: 


 


Bachelor’s degree. FINRA Series 6 and 63 licenses; appropriate state life & health insurance license. FINRA Series 7 and 24 or Series 8 or 9 and 10 licenses preferred. CLU, ChFC, or LUTCF designations preferred. 5+ yrs. sales producer experience.


 


The hired candidate must be legally authorized to work in the United States without an employer-sponsored petition for a visa, such as an H-1B visa. MetLife does not intend to file any visa applications in connection with this opening.
